In the foothills of Tucumán, where the Yungas begin to engage with the Serrano Chaco, we decided to take a key step in our commitment to environmental responsibility: the registration of our Reserve “El Taficillo” as a Private Natural Reserve. This area covers 626 hectares, located in the commune of El Cadillal, province of Tucumán, entirely owned by ROMAR and categorized as Zone I of conservation according to the provincial Native Forest Land Use Plan.

The reserve presents exceptional ecological value: it is a transitional environment between the Yungas and the Serrano Chaco, with direct continuity with the Sierra de San Javier Park and serves as a biological corridor that connects different protected areas. Inside, characteristic species of both ecoregions coexist such as tipa, pacará, chal chal, walnut, afata, and cebil colorado, reflecting the richness and maturity of a well-preserved forest. Five forest types have been recognized, confirming the diversity and complexity of its environments.
The registration as a Private Natural Reserve was formalized in July 2025, through Resolution N.º 199 (DFFSYS), which involves assuming concrete conservation commitments, use restrictions, and long-term planning aimed at caring for the ecosystem.
Conserve, investigate, and educate: a reserve with a future perspective
The creation of the El Taficillo Reserve responds to our conviction that private companies must get involved in the conservation, protection, and restoration of native forests. We also seek to inspire awareness about the importance of environmental commitment among our collaborators, their families, and future generations.

We have made progress with concrete actions: we carried out the forestry inventory, carbon stock analysis, and wildlife surveys using camera traps together with the ProYungas Foundation, generating technical information that strengthens responsible management of the area. Additionally, in collaboration with the Miguel Lillo Foundation and the ProYungas Foundation, we are developing an environmental interpretation trail, so that starting in 2026, our collaborators can learn about and appreciate the native forest from an educational and respectful perspective; we want to share with them an immersive experience in the jungle.

Looking ahead, we project El Taficillo as a space for active conservation, learning, and connection with nature. We aspire for this reserve to establish itself as a model of sustainable private management, integrating nature, science, and community. In the long term, we hope it becomes a biological refuge, a center of knowledge, and an inspiring example for companies and communities to join in taking care of the territory we inhabit.
The culture that unites us.

We are very happy that our first ROMAR Sustainability Report is coming to light. We celebrate the comprehensive strategy and the sustainability activities that are implemented in each company.
